Our Trip: Haden Hill House Museum

Post by Nicole J. Simms

On 1st November 2015, we went on our second group trip; our first trip was to the Pow Wow Festival of Writing. The purpose of the trip was to help us find inspiration for our World War II anthology, and that’s why we decided to visit Haden Hill House. Haden Hill House was used in World War II to house evacuees and those sheltering from the bombings, which makes it a perfect setting for one of our stories.

The day, as you can see from the photos, was a crisp autumnal day. We spent hours touring the grand building, and once we finished in the museum, we then explored the spooky park and woods. We left the house buzzing with ideas for our anthology and for other stories.

It was a great day, and we would be keen to visit the house again, especially for the yummy cake that they sell.
