O.W.G. Christmas Meal 2015

Merry Christmas from the Oldbury Writing Group

To celebrate our final meeting for 2015 and our second Christmas together, we decided to go for a Christmas meal.

Before our meal, we had our morning session, which was more informal than normal due to it being our final session for 2015. During the session, we completed fun writing quizzes, we ate crisps, drank tea, talked about our war anthology, and our writing in general. For some reason, we also started talking about the Simpsons and other random things, but that’s what happens when you put writers together.

Once we finished our meeting, we then headed to The White Swan pub for our Christmas meal. We pulled crackers, ate until we couldn’t eat anymore, drank plenty of drinks (non-alcoholic and alcoholic), talked about everything, and laughed non-stop. It truly was a wonderful afternoon.

At the end of our meal, we were also treated to free warm mince pies. Some of us took them home, and some of us ate them there and then. The White Swan is a stunning pub that serves great food at a decent price. We would recommend it to anyone.

2015 has been a great year for our group: we’ve been to a writing festival, visited Haden Hill House, wrote stories and poems, raised money for charity, and Bally won a photography competition. We have done so much, and we can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store for us.

We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
