The OWG is hosting their first free annual book quiz as a part of the celebrations for World Book day. As late as it may be, the book quiz will be held at Oldbury Library on the 12th March 2016 starting at 10am and going through until 1.00pm.
There will be one round of 50 questions and the deserving winner will get a £10 voucher for The Works Book shop.

Also, the OWG are putting on a 6-word story competition in Oldbury Library’s foyer. All entries are 25p and all proceeds also go to the libraries Friends Group. The Competition starts on the 5th March and continues until the 18th and the winner will be announced on the 19th March 2016. The child winner will get a pack of goodies and the adult winner will receive a selection of Books.
This is not the first time that the OWG has put on events to raise money, in 2014 they put on a series of events to raise money for the victims of the Ebola virus and in 2015, they put on an event to raise money for HSI to help the animal and human victims of the Nepal Earthquake.
Angela Garratt, Founder of the OWG said, “I am very proud of the OWG members and what we have achieved so far, between us we have raised hundreds for charity, progressed with our own writing, started an anthology together, took part in a documentary for the Walsall Poetry Society and gone on trips together for both inspiration and to learn. 2016 is set to be a very interesting year for us. And now we are putting on this book quiz and the 6 word story competition. In doing so, we hope to inspire others to read more and to write more. Though these are a part of the celebrations for World Book day, it is also simply to get more people interested in writing.”
The OWG welcome all sorts of writers, from children’s writers to adult, from fact to fiction, from novelists, screen writers, to graphic novelist and journalists. All writers of all genres are welcome.
